Si è giocata al Fir Park di Motherwell la finale della Irn-Bru Challenge Cup tra Dundee Utd e St.Mirren; godibile partita, equilibrata e con tante occasioni da una parte e dall'altra che ha visto la vittoria del Dundee Utd per 2-1, con i Terrors che così si portano a casa la loro prima Challenge Cup della storia.

Il Morton perde 2-0 ad Hampden contro il Queen's Park ed esce così dalla Challenge Cup; risultato giusto cob gli Spiders che colpiscono a fine primo tempo e ad inizio ripresa, con il forcing dei ragazzi di mister Duffy molto sterile sia nella costruzione del gioco che nelle finalizzazioni, con i padroni di casa che con il minimo sforzo centrano il massimo risultato.

Challenge Cup, nuovo format

Svelato oggi il nuovo format della Challenge Cup con parecchie novità; infatti oltre ai tradizionali team di Championship, League One, League Two e due tra Highland e Lowland League sono stati inserite le selezioni Under 20 dei team di Premiership, il passaggio a 8 team tra Highland e Lowland League (4 per campionato) e l'inserimento di due team gallesi e due nordirlandesi. In totale 54 squadre per sette turni totali, si inizia ad agosto con finale in programma a marzo.
